What Im Thankful For, 2012

WHAT I’M THANKFUL FOR, 2012 I nearly didn’t write this submit. What I referred to as, this time final year, an “annual custom,” wasn’t actually annual, per se, since I wrote one in 2009 then skipped 2010. But right here it is, Thanksgiving week again already and another alternative to thank my fortunate stars for . . . what? And that’s why I nearly didn’t write this post. When I read by way of final 12 months’s entry, I thought, hmm, yeah, that “secret project” happened, that one didn’t, this ended up not working out, that other factor was better than expected. But on first blush nothing in 2012 instantly jumped to mind as one thing to be thankful for. So I thought, hey, just start writingâ€"make a list, and that’s pretty much what I’m doing right now. Health and happiness: That appears to be a recurring theme. Issues with depression have been sorted out. I could stand to free a pair pounds (if “a couple”=a hundred) however in any other case I’m in excellent health. The kids are do ing swell in school. Daughter off to school and getting her toes under her there. Financial aid process went through fantastic and her tuition is paid for the 12 months. That’s good. Thanks to everybody on the college and elsewhere who helped in that. That’s really a giant one, by the way in which. If you possibly can say that you’re happy and wholesome, and so are your children, the rest is just window dressing. What else? What’s changed for me in 2012 that’s thankful-worthy? Thanks to Peter Archer & Jennifer Lawler at Adams Media for serving to me get this world-altering tome out this yr! I started instructing, and I’m extremely grateful to everybody at Bellevue College and two courses worth of amazingly inventive students who made these first two courses so nice. I discovered more from them than they realized from me, and I do and can proceed to improve the course construction and workout routines, etc. as I build my expertise in that venue. I’ve received two progra ms upcoming within the Winter 2013 term: Worldbuilding and a one-day crash course on Living Dialog that’ll construct from the blog publish of the identical name. I’m grateful for a possibility to plug these. If you’re in the Seattle space these lessons are open to all and registration is open. I’ve talked about getting out of the home more, expanding my horizons, and so on, and these courses at Bellevue College, and occasions like Write on the Sound and the Writer’s Digest Conference West have really been a Godsend. I was invited to a gathering on the school for the half-time school and while listening to one of the speakers, I felt compelled to write this in my notes: I am in a completely different place, with fully different individuals. I’m really really grateful for that, and for the ability to recognize its energy. I’m a behavior individual. I very quickly, very easily, and very completely get stuck in ruts. This year I lastly took pro-energetic steps to shake my life up somewhatâ€"my work life, anywayâ€"and I’m so glad I did. So I’ll thank myself for that: Thanks, Phil. No drawback, Phil. Enjoy. But additionally due to all people who’s invited me to stuff, accepted my request to be part of stuff, and customarily arranged for there to be stuff that I may be invited to or request to be part of. I’m thankful for the superb work that’s come my way this yr. I’ve been concerned in some terrific tasks.
